Dear Parents of Prospective Rushee,
We are excited that your son is interested in becoming a member of the Theta Chi Chapter of Delta Sigma Phi. Since our local founding in 2001, the chapter has grown quickly to boast the highest number of active members at UGA. The brothers of Delta Sig attribute our success to the principles that we find important such as academic excellence and encouragement of self-discipline, responsibility, and leadership within the chapter. We look forward to getting to know your son and would like to see how he may contribute to the success of the fraternity and its members. First, I would like to congratulate your son on his acceptance to the University of Georgia. This being said, we understand that as a parent whose son is going through the fraternity recruitment process you undoubtedly have questions about how rush works. Delta Sigma Phi at UGA participates in both informal summer and formal fall rush. Events during the summer have a very casual and relaxed nature which we find helpful in getting to know potential new members. Events during the summer include our annual kayaking trip, lake days, and cook-outs at the chapter house. If your son is interested in summer rush events, make sure he has submitted his information in order to be added to our rush list. Formal fall rush, which takes place subsequently to your son’s move-in, is a more structured process and involves house tours and getting to know the brothers of the fraternity. Bids to join the fraternity are given throughout the summer and fall rush periods. In this process we refuse to pressure a rushee into joining and encourage your son to make the decision that is right for him regarding accepting a bid. I hope that this letter has given you a clear idea of our fraternity’s values and the recruitment process. If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact me personally. We look forward to meeting your son!
